THE OLD MAN & THE GUN  (PG-13, 93 minutes )

Based on the true story of Forrest Tucker and his audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70 to an unprecedented string of heists that confounded authorities and enchanted the public.

Join facilitators from Celebrate Diversity Fox Cities as they lead us in meaningful and respectful conversations around the topics of homelessness and poverty as part of the Fox Cities Reads 2019 events. Objectives of the event include exploring what you learned from reading Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, sharing your thoughts on homelessness and poverty as a result of reading the book, and brainstorming on actions that can be personally taken to help end homelessness and poverty in our communities.

Do you enjoy reading but don't have time for a traditional book club? Try Short Story Night instead! Join us at Lion's Tail Brewing in downtown Neenah, Monday, March 11th, at 7:00pm as we discuss "A Big True" by Dina Nayeri. Like a cross between a traditional book club and a late night talk show, Short Story Night includes trivia, commentary, discussion, author interviews and more. All About Google Drive 

Learn how to use this tech program as an easy resource to create, save and store a variety of digital files.

Join us for Tech Talk Tuesday to learn about a variety of tech topics. We will discuss everything from online security to social media to the digital library!

 2nd Tuesday of the month, October to April, 1:30 PM in the Aylward Room. All interested individuals are welcome to attend, registration is not required.

Free legal assistance is available to individuals who need help with simple legal questions, assistance with forms, or referrals to attorneys who offer reduced-cost and /or unbundled services.  Volunteer lawyers and pre-law students from UW-Oshkosh will be available to offer help in the following case types: family law, small claims, domestic abuse/harassment injunctions, probate/wills or guardianships, and property disputes.

Thursday, March 14

Volunteers with AARP will be at the library Thursdays beginning at 11:30 to help low- to moderate- income taxpayers and seniors prepare their tax returns.

Appointments required. Call 920-215-1040 to schedule an appointment Monday through Friday. Appointment hotline opens mid-January.

 

Drop in for a friendly game of chess every Thursday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend. Even if you have never played, but are interested in learning, stop by and we will teach you. No registration or chess boards required. Chess is played on the library's second floor.

Free weekly ukulele workshops with Sam ‘Ālika Bader begins Thursday, January 17. At the Thursday workshops, Sam will teach new skills, new techniques, and new songs – something new every week! For confident beginners, advanced beginners, and intermediate level ukulele players.

Workshops are held on Thursdays, from January 17 through March 14, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Library’s Storytime Room. No registration required and no fee. Attend a few or all nine workshops.

Sam, a multi-instrumentalist and native Hawaiian, has been playing ukulele from the age of 9. He has been teaching group ukulele classes at the Library since 2016.

Bring music you're working on, something you're having trouble with, play a solo or a duet for the group, play along with your fellow ukers. All skill levels welcome!

Ukers will meet in the first floor Story Time Room.

Sunday, March 17

Are you interested in learning how to play Dungeons and Dragons? Join us every Sunday at 1:00pm in the second floor Aylward Room at the Neenah Public Library. This friendly Dungeons and Dragons group is always looking for few more adventurers. This is a great introduction for newbies, or people simple looking for a gaming group. No registration is required for this free event.

This is group is for adults 18 and older.

 

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a fantastic performance from Druid's Table!
 

“Traditional Celtic folk music since 1999.The group performs jigs, hornpipes, ballads, pub songs, reels, airs and Irish polkas using instrumentation including harp, accordion, penny whistle, fiddle, guitar, Irish flute, concertina and bodhran.”


The hour-long concerts begin at 2:00 PM, October to May, in the Shattuck Community Room. Performances are free and open to the public. The concert series is sponsored by The Friends of the Neenah Public Library.
