Sunday Concert Series: Caravan Gypsy Swing Ensemble

 

Caravan Gypsy Swing Ensemble

“Instrumental acoustic jazz influenced by the legendary Roma Gypsy Jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. The ensemble also pulls influences from American jazz, European Folk Music, traditional Latin, Parisian waltz, and other vintage-jazz sources. Expect a range of tunes from the “Hot Swing" repertoire, originals, and standards done in uniquely arranged styles.”

This past fall, in partnership with Lawrence University, the Neenah Public Library offered a series of jazz concerts. Each performance highlighted a famous jazz musician. The first event featured the music of renowned composer Thelonious Monk, while the last delivered a stellar performance of saxophone giant John Coltrane's seminal work. Each event found the student quartet offering up lively and approachable takes of the featured artist's tunes.

Wendy & DB-Musicians

Wendy & DB are an award winning interactive children's music duo based in Chicago.  They encourage the curiosity and imagination that flourish naturally in children with positive lyrics honoring inclusion and compassion. Wendy & DB’s melodic, interactive and contagious songs delight folks, newborn to one hundred and two!

Wendy & DB are part of our SOAR into Summer Library Experience. The program is free and open to everyone, and will run about 45 minutes. Space is limited – pick up your free tickets at the Youth Desk starting July 6.

 

Spektral Quartet-String Quartet *SPECIAL TIME: 1:30 pm*

The Spektral Quartet was named Chicagoans of the year in 2017 and nominated for a Grammy.  They talk about their instruments in an accessible way, talk about how music tells a story and let child touch and play their instruments. The Spektral Quartet is sponsored by the Green Lake Festival of Music, who wants to introduce grandparents, parents, and children to the wonderful world of music with free concerts.
