WI DPI - Parental Education Options Page
The DPI Parental Education Options Team provides technical assistance to school districts and the public in the areas of public school open enrollment, public school district administration and organization, district boundary changes, school district facilities, private schools, private school choice (voucher) programs for Milwaukee, Racine, and statewide, charter schools, home-based private education (homeschooling), and whole grade sharing.
Homeschool Resources
Wisconsin Statutes 115.001 (3) A home-based private educational program as a program of educational instruction provided to a child by the child’s parent.
A Homeschool Informational binder is available in the Parent/Teacher Section in the Youth Department.
Wisconsin Homeschool Parents Association (WHPA)
For continuing families, filing the PI-1206 (intent to homeschool) must be done no earlier than the 3rd Friday in September and no later than October 15th.
In the instance that you are removing your student(s) from a registered school- completing a letter of intent to homeschool and filing for the PI-1206 are needed to be done before starting your home-based education. Visit WHPA's website for further details.
