Family Program: Anywhere Art

It's all about the process!  Join us for a creative afternoon at the library. We will be using paper bags and a variety of other materials to create interactive 3-D villages.  Exercise your creativity and resourcefulness.  All materials are provided. 

This program is great for all ages and will last about 45 minutes

We will meet inside the library in the Shattuck Room.

Family Program: Super Hero Capes!

 

Join the Youth Staff in this Hands-on, DIY Super hero cape activity! 

Bring a T-shirt of any size.  (it will be cut into a cape) Each youth can create a "cape" to paint, draw or color to create their own super hero emblem! 

Patrons will be using Acrylic paint, please come dressed in your painting clothes, or bring a smock to cover your outfit. 

This activity takes roughly 30 minutes, adult engagement will be needed for the project. 

Arrive at 12:30 pm to allow time for instructions and paint dry time. 

Family Program: Paper Bag Robots

Bring your creativity and turn everyday objects into robot masterpieces.

Using paper bags, boxes, aluminum foil and a variety of found materials participants will create a unique robot that will bring joy to their play experience. The end result can be art to admire, a hand puppet or a costume ~ not an actual robot.

This is a drop-in program geared for school-age kids and will run from 12:30-1:30 pm.

Program is located indoors in the Shattuck Room.

 

 

Jewelry Workshop

 

Join our Teen Advisory students in the Storytime Room as we create unique jewelry! 

Please arrive between 10:30 -10:45 am. This program takes time to complete. The program is geared towards 8-18 years, working independently is a must. Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend. 

Program runs for one hour. 

A variety of items to choose from to create, make and wear.

No experience needed.

Family Program: Glass Blowing with Bergstrom-Mahler Museum

 

Join us at Shattuck Park and discover the world of glass art and paperweights with Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass. A reading of "Elena's Serenade" will be followed by a Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass glass blowing demonstration providing an informative and entertaining look at what glass is, how it behaves at high temperatures, and how people manipulate glass to create beautiful works of art.
